Brugge is Dutch for Bruges which means landing stage or port. Brugge is the capital and the largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium. Brugge population is around 120,000 people so it a relatively small city that still has many things to offer tourists if they want to stop and check it out. One of the things that you will first notice about Bruges is most of it's medieval architecture remains intact. This is something as a tourist you will want to see on your trip here. The sculpture Madonna and his child by the famous artist Michelangelo's rests at the Church of lady inside the transept. It is the only known Michelangelo's sculpture that is known to make it out of Italy. Brugge is also famous for the belfry a housing that comprises of 47 bells and they still have a full-time bell ringer that puts on regular concerts.

If you are a cyclist then Brugge is a place that you will love. Most cars have to yield to cyclists and no part of Brugge is totally car free. Plans have been in the works to ban cars, but so far nothing has been worked out just yet. Many things as tourists that you will need to check out include the many different beers that are made in Brugge. Brugge is also known for its lace and the College of Europe is also located here. Probably though the best thing that Brugge is known for it it's old world charm. In today's world many cities are losing this, but Brugge is working to keep these things around which make it a city you will want to see. Even as small as Brugge is sports is still something that you can enjoy in Brugge.

Tourists that come to Brugge find that the most important thing that they take from Brugge is all the historical buildings and homes that they can look at. This is one of the few cities that have such a vast arena of architecture. Museums and parks are another thing that you should also check out before you leave this majestic city. It's a very beautiful city which many things to offer and even though it's small you may see things cities twice the size never have. Give Brugge all your attention and you will see many things that will make you come back for more.
