Lisbon Itinerary

Lisbon is the capital and largest city in Portugal. With a population of around 560,000 people and when combined with the Lisbon metropolitan area this populated swells to 2.8 million people. Lisbon was under the Roman rule from 205BC. Julius Caesar made it a Municipium called Felicitas Julia. Lisbon than went through many different empires that rule it and now today's Lisbon is a city that has many things going for it including its people and events. Lisbon has one of the nicest climates of any European capital with summer months seeing 16C to 38C. For people who love to see snow you will be very disappointed as snow is a very rare occurrence in Lisbon. The heart of the city is Baxia that is the downtown or city centre that many locals like to call it. This cit centre has many interesting things to see and do and this is a place that many tourists start their journey through Lisbon.

Many monuments and architecture dot the landscape throughout Lisbon and should be something that if you have the time you will need to check out. Since Lisbon is very close and most of the city is surrounded by water ferry's will transfer you from one side of the Tagus river to the other. Being a water port means you will see many things from all countries of the world when you shop in Lisbon. You are not limited to that though as sports is another very important thing to the people of Portugal. Sports clubs are very vast and located throughout the country where you will see some of their finest athletes around. Many tourist attractions dot the landscape such as the Barrio Alto. The Barrio Alto is one of the main things in the Lisbon district where many people go to enjoy life in Lisbon.

Transportation in Lisbon is something that you definitely want to check out before you leave Lisbon. Riding one of the 1930's trams is something that you won't forget anytime soon. Many of these trams will take you through charming residential neighborhoods that you probably would never see without the trams. It's a must see especially if your visiting Lisbon for any length of time. No matter if you are in the day or night Lisbon has so much to offer the tourist from entertainment to just a plain simple tram ride. Sometimes it's the simple things that mean the most on a trip. Lisbon has the both of best worlds and that is why it's a very popular tourist attraction.
