Miami-Fl Hotel Guide

Long before the settlers first arrived, Tequesta Indians lived in the area that is now known as Miami. Ulia D. Tuttle was a pioneer of Florida, in 1895, she convinced Henry M. Flagler, a railroad builder that the area wouldbe a rich farmland. Some of her flowers had escaped a heavy frost and she sent them to him. Flagler extended the Florida East Coast Railroad in 1896, to the area for exchange of land. In 1896, Miami was founded as a city with an estimated population of 1,500 people, by 1910 the population was 5,000 and by 1920, the population was 30,000. People lost fortunes with the construction of resorts, hotels, and homes, by a destructive hurricane in 1926 and another terrible storm in 1928 but the population had reached 110,000 in 1930.

Miami was an important military training center during World War II. The city's hotels were used as barracks by the armed service men and many of them settled in Miami after the war. The population had grown to 250,000 by 1950. Over the years things have changed and now Miami is booming. If you have any doubt that Miami will never make it as a state you need to look at the statistics. Fidel Castro became a dictator in Cuba in 1959 and thousands of Cubans fled to Miami.

Several new buildings were erected in the mid-1980's in the city of Miami and Brickell Avenue, a city nearby, known as Miami's Financial Center. In 1984, a 55-story building known as Southeast Financial Center was completed in this center and Brickell Bay Office Tower was opened in 1985, which had 32 stories. In 1984, a transit system known as Metrorail began operation and in 1986, an elevated shuttle line known as Metromover in downtown Miami. Miami city's temperature varies little and the average temperature is 81 degrees in summer and 71 degrees in the winter. Miami is well known for a great place to party for teens during spring break when the beaches are starting to warm up. When you travel to Miami bring a jacket incase the breeze is too chili for you. Everyone is different and what is good for one person may be too cold for the next. When you visit Miami you will enjoy the flexible schedule that everyone has here. When you relax and unwind you can feel the happiness and share in the atmosphere.
