Canary Wharf/Docklands

Docklands Skyline - Canary WharfThe futuristic London's Docklands is situated to the eOlympics - London 2012ast of the city across the Thames from Greenwich. This area will play host to the Olympics in 2012 and a new sports arena and new housing will be built. The Docklands area is well served by the Docklands Light Railway, a driverless monorail train powered by computer and is also linked by the Jubilee Line to the centre of London. 3 miles from the Docklands, you can find London City Airport which provides access to key European destinations such as Holland, Germany and Belgium. The Docklands offers various possibilities for sightseeing and the Docklands Light Railway has selected trains with commentary to explain about the modern and partly futuristic architecture and the historic docks. You can also visit the forgotten relic of ancient London at the Roman London Wall. As the Docklands is near the River Thames, the majority of river cruises either start or end here and this is one of the most pleasant ways of travelling down through London and seeing the city from a different perspective. You will be able to see Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Tower Pier, Tower Bridge, London Bridge, the National Maritime Museum, the Observatory and much more on a days cruise. Many boats also operate in the evening, offering sumptuous meals and a cool glass of wine whilst enjoying the splendour of London by night.
