Since the grand opening in 1870, the Grand Hotel Wien was famous for being at the very hub of Viennese social life and it still is today! The hotel's glittering past and shining future have been fused together when the Grand Hotel Wien re-opened in 1994. Despite its long and rich history, the hotel is one of the most modern and luxurious hotels in Austria today. The hotel features a Japanese speciality restaurant, "Unkai", which has been awarded by Gault Millau. The award-winning gourmet restaurant "Le Ciel", which is also located on the 7th floor, serves a combination of Viennese and French cuisine over the rooftops of Vienna. There is also a terrace which is open during the summer season. The "Grand Cafe", a restaurant in the style of a Viennese coffee shop, is found on the first floor.
