San Francisco is the fourth majority populous city in California and the fourteenth majority populous in the United States. With a population of around 750,000 you will find that San Francisco is a melting pot of different types of people. Toss in the San Francisco Bay area and you are looking over 7 million people. Around 1776 the Spanish settled the tip of the Peninsula establishing a fort at the Golden Gate and a mission named after Francis of Assisi. In 1848 the Gold Rush hit California and the city of San Francisco and California would never be the same again. Though in 1906 a massive earthquake and fire destroyed much of San Francisco it was quickly rebuilt and still stands the test of time. San Francisco once was a gold rush spot, but now it's one of America's and the World's biggest tourist attractions.


Weather in San Francisco can best be described as mild, wet winters and dry summers. Since San Francisco is surrounded via three sides of water, the climate is hugely influenced via the Pacific Ocean that tends to make temperatures rise or even fall. The Cold ocean water can sometimes cause fog when it hits the warmer air of California thus making San Francisco at times a very foggy city. Neighborhoods are one area that many tourists travel to and this includes Chinatown. Chinatown is one of the more popular travel destinations as it takes you back to what China is like. Beaches and parks are extremely popular in San Francisco and there are plenty of them to choose from. Culture and a high standard of living is something as a tourist you will see throughout San Francisco. The Dot.com business boom in the 90's can still be seen even though not to the extent it once was.


Museums are extremely popular places in San Francisco along with the many professional sports teams that also are available to you. Toss in the Zoo and Sea aquariums and you can see why more people are wanting to visit San Francisco than ever before. Earthquakes don't happen as often as they use to so tourists have picked up over the years and that should continue with all the attractions that San Francisco has to offer. With something for everyone it's no wonder San Francisco continues to pack in the visitors year after year with no end it site it seems.
